If you love handbags, you know they come in just about any material and style you can imagine. Though the traditional material for a quality handbag might be leather, you can find it made of just about anything you can make clothing from. If you can sew it, you can make a purse out of it. There are even purses made out of denim if you think that is your thing, or perhaps you want something flashier like a metallic purses.
Something of vengeance I had tasted for the first time; as aromatic wine it seemed, on swallowing, warm and racy: its after- flavour, metallic and corroding, gave me a sensation as if I had been poisoned.
—Charlotte Brontë (18161855)
My purse collection is huge, and I know I have way too many. In my collection are a few metallic purses. I don’t know why I have them. I never use them, and I guess that is because I don’t really have a need for them. There is just something about metallic purses however, because I have two or three that I have for absolutely no reason other than how pretty they were when I saw them in the store. Some are a bit gaudy, but there are plenty that are sleek and elegant. If you buy a goofy one, buy it for your own amusement.
I have a shiny shirt for special occasions, and I love shiny sandals, but I still don’t know what I am going to do with my metallic purses. I guess I love shiny things and if it looks good enough, I’ll buy it for no reason other than that. The metallic purses I have are silver and I think one is a bronze color. The latter was something that was given to me by a friend who bought hers for the same reason I do and she knew she would never use it. At least I’m not the only one!
Woman is the future of man. That means that the world which was once formed in mans image will now be transformed to the image of woman. The more technical and mechanical, cold and metallic it becomes, the more it will need the kind of warmth that only the woman can give it. If we want to save the world, we must adapt to the woman, let ourselves be led by the woman, let ourselves be penetrated by the Ewigweiblich, the eternally feminine!
—Milan Kundera (b. 1929)
If you go out more than I do, you might have more uses for metallic purses. They do look great with the right outfit, and might be the perfect purse to use if you are dressed all in black or perhaps even red for the holiday season. Metallic purses will add a bit of holiday sparkle to your outfit without overdoing it. Everyone dresses up a little for Christmas, but you don’t have to wear a reindeer knit sweater to do it. A little sparkly will go a long way. You can buy a regular sized one, or perhaps you might go for a small sparkly, metallic clutch to go with your favorite evening gown for a night out on the town.
